Odell Beckham Jr. ‘On Call’ For Birth Of First Child During Super Bowl

“Literally my phone is right here just in case,” he said.

It’s a weekend full of thrills for NFL wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. as he prepares for his first Super Bowl appearance and the possibility of the birth of his first child on game day.

OBJ said he’s “on call” in the event his child is born this weekend, and more specifically, during the big game, he said at a virtual media conference.

“Literally my phone is right here just in case, he said. “So I’m on call. I’m on watch. I’m on standby.”

However, it’s not an outcome he can fathom. He doesn’t want “to put that energy into the air,” according to the Associated Press,

Beckham and the Los Angeles Rams will face off against the Cincinnati Bengals at the SoFi Stadium in California Sunday night (Feb. 13).

Beckham is expecting the child with his girlfriend, singer-fitness trainer, Lauren Wood. Wood, 28, announced her pregnancy in November 2021. The couple was first linked together in 2019 during Beckham’s 27th birthday.

"I think God has a different plan. I don't need it during the Super Bowl. I want to see my child being born, so I'm on watch," Beckham said, writes The New York Post.

Beckham also has financial incentives involved in tonight's Super Bowl LVI game. According to Total Pro Sports, he could receive a payout of $1 million if the Rams win, instead of the $500,000 he’ll receive for just playing in the game – win, lose or draw.
