Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley Set for Live Weigh-In
Plenty to prove. That will be the theme when Manny Pacquiao (55-5-2, 38 KOs) faces Timothy Bradley (31-0, 12 KOs) in a welterweight bout (147 pounds) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena Saturday (April 12) night. The fight is a rematch of their June 2012 battle, a match that saw Bradley win a controversial split-decision victory.
The two boxers will meet face-to-face for the last time before the fight in a live weigh-in from Las Vegas today.
Since the June 2012 controversy, Bradley has been waiting for his chance to prove to critics that he can defeat Pacquiao convincingly. Conversely, Pacquiao has been awaiting the opportunity to prove to boxing fans that the June 2012 split-decision in Bradley’s favor was nothing more than a bad decision. Additionally, Pacman is out to prove he has plenty of remaining competitive fire, something that Bradley has openly questioned.
"I've heard in the past and read in the past from [trainer] Freddie Roach's own mouth that Pacquiao is too compassionate," Bradley, 30, told Pacquiao on a Face Off with Max Kellerman HBO special a few months back. "He's compassionate with his sparring partners. I'm begging his sparring partners to go in there and try to knock his head off to light a fire.
“Tell me you’re gonna knock me out,” he continued.
Pacquiao, 35, digested Bradley’s tough talk, but thinks the younger fighter will be on the run tomorrow night; the eight-division world champion told reporters he’s prepared to “hunt [Bradley] down" and avenge a match that he believes he was robbed of nearly two years ago.
