9 Year-Old-Girl Among First Victims Identified in Oklahoma Tornado
Families of victims of the Oklahoma tornado are remembering the lives of their loved ones taken by the powerful storm on Monday.
Ja'Nae Hornsby, a 9-year-old girl, is among the first victims to be identified, according to NBC News. Hornsby died as the twister passed over the Plaza Towers Elementary School in the suburb of Moore.
Her father tried to race from Oklahoma City to get Hornsby from school before the storm hit, but the highways were jammed.
The family received a call about Hornsby while they waited at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, where other parents were hoping to be reunited with their children.
The state's Chief Medical Examiner released the names of seven victims in Monday's storm: Hornsby, Hemant Bhonde and Kyle Davis, Sydney Angle, Megan Futrell, Case Futrell and Antonia Lee Candelaria.
