Snoop Dogg Photo Gets Texas State Trooper in Trouble
Snoop Dogg's Instagram page may be filled with pics of him with stars, fans, and a flight attendant, but a snapshot with a uniformed trooper was one pic that the local Department of Public Safety did not "like."
The Texas DPS trooper, Billy Spears, was cited for "deficiencies" and ordered into counseling for posing with Snoop while on duty as security (a side hustle for him) at the 2015 South by Southwest Music Festival in Austin. Snoop posted the photo opp to his IG page with the caption, "me and my deputy dogg."
Spears's attorney says the issue for DPS is Snoop's “well-known criminal background,” reports CBS. His client is required to go to counseling to improve his ability to "use good judgment when taking photos with anyone in uniform," and "be mindful of social media outlets and how photos can negatively affect the Agency," according to a public record.
The photo, taken during a time of intense contention between the public and police officers, was given the thumbs up by at least 17,000 of Snoop's IG followers.
As of press time, Snoop has not responded to the incident.
