Nas' 7-Page Letter Blasting Kelis' Domestic Violence Claims Has The Internet At Bloody War
The shatteringly toxic relationship between estranged ex-hip-hop couple and co-parents Kelis and Nas has taken an even sharper turn after the R&B songstress-turned-chefstress’ domestic violence claims against the Queens-bred rap icon.
The twist comes in the form of a seven-page letter from Nasir where he not only blasts Kelis’ heartbreaking accusations, but flips a few claims of verbal and physical abuse back on her.
Finally breaking his silence on the allegations from April, Nas posted the lengthy message to his son’s mother and former wife on Instagram
From withholding his rights to see their 8-year-old son, Knight Jones, to completely fabricating their volatile blowups during their relationship, Nas accused Kelis of exploiting domestic violence victimhood for attention and sympathy. “This is what your life has come to sis?” he wrote.
Escobar alleged that her supposed bitterness has bled over into court, and her true hostility for stems from a joint custody ruling that the judge agreed upon. “And there was times I thought Kelis my ex wife was not this type,” he said. “This is the type of antics that deceive people and people mistakenly call it strong.” Nas even went so far as to claim that Kelis targeted jealous and dastardly antics at his own daughter. “I instilled strength in my daughter who you were already so jealous of and treated poorly,” he wrote. “Being jealous & verbally abusive to a little girl.”
Continuing his elaboration on her alleged mental, physical, and verbal abuse, Nas said that there were a few things he’d leave out of the letter for their son’s sake. He also admitted to his own vices, such as being “immature” and “unfaithful” during their relationship. “I hate all this,” he wrote, “but you were a very jealous wife, and I had to deal with that and that’s the worst feeling.”
In the rest of the letter, beginning with Part 5, Nas said that his money sponsored her cooking career too
“Didn’t want to bring up money but since that’s the fuel behind all of this, let me say that I have you the tolls to be successful after you was dropped from your label,” he wrote.
Alleging that Kelis was forced to pay his legal fees “because [the judge] was tired of [her] wasting everyone’s time in court,” he added that she’s hit him up privately to request more child support money as well. He wanted to make sure everyone knew that he wasn’t discrediting the testimonies or tribulations of women who have suffered domestic violence, but according to him, “everything with her is a plot and a scheme.”
Concluding his mouthful (or pen-ful, rather), Nas thanked his fans for their support—even those who sided with his former wife.
“And to all the fans that knew my silence was due to the fact that I don’t openly do this kind of petty sh**…. I appreciate you riding,” he finished off. “And to those that were lead down a wrong path…I get it…very sensitive times and all things must be taken seriously. THIS is MY TRUTH.”
Now that fans have heard two sides of the story...
They're taking their pick on which three sides to stand on: Kelis’, Nas’, and the truth…
