For this list, we’re looking at the best moments from the 2018 Soul Train Awards as we continue our trip down memory lane ahead of this year’s show. From Jacquees dancing to “B.E.D.” to Koryn Hawthorne’s spectacular gospel performance, these moments bring the excitement, and dopamine, like few other events can.
Check out the five best moments from the 2018 Soul Train Awards below.
Jacquees gets steamy as can be onstage
Jacquees lit bedrooms up everywhere with the sensual “B.E.D.” that he released in 2017. He covered the stage in figurative candles with his warm performance of the song at the 2018 Soul Train Awards, mimicking the kind of adorable teenager-singer dance moves that made Chris Brown a sensation in the 2000s. He also played a literally steamy rendition of “You” as well.
Bell Biv Devoe revives the New Jack Swing era
Ain’t no party like a Bell Biv Devoe party! The legends of New Jack Swing brought the crowd back to the early 90s with performances of “Do Me” and “Poison” — the latter being a phenomenal party-starter that put the audience on track to get funky all night long.
The Soul Cypher’s intense collection of verses shut the show down
The Soul Cypher is always an event to look forward to at the Soul Train Awards, and in 2018, Queen Naija, Robert Glasper, Kelly Price, BJ The Chicago Kid, Luke James, and Thundercat brought the finger-snapping vibes to the show with mesmerizing performances. Luke James and Queen Naijia, in particular, brought chills to the back of necks with their beautiful voices.

Koryn Hawthorne praises God as beautifully as possible
Koryn Hawthorne made praising God into a ceiling-breaking event with her high-energy performance of “Won’t He Do It.” Bouncing around on stage with a select few backup dancers breaking all expectations of how to dance to gospel music, Hawthorne’s unique show brought the audience to their feet with their hands to the heavens. Everyone had to thank God for the moment that Hawthorne brought into existence.
Faith Evans reminds everyone why she’s R&B’s Lady of Soul
Faith Evans’ legendary imprint on the culture of R&B music made her a surefire win for the Lady of Soul Award. She took the stage with her mythical presence, performing a beautiful melody of some of her biggest hits over the course of her career. First came a passionate rendition of “Soon As I Get Home” followed by “Use To Love Me” and more. She capped the night off with a spectacular trip through the past and present, inspiring everyone to revisit her beautiful catalog.
