Tidal is pushing forward despite recent criticism. Today, Tidal has launched their feature aimed at emerging artists called Tidal Rising, and they have spotlighted Chicago soul singer Lili K.

Lili K has worked with Chicago’s younger acts like Chance The Rapper and Vic Mensa, both of whom have featured her on their songs. She can be best described as a combination of funk, blues and soul with elements of R&B and rock. One of Lili K’s big songs this year was “Tommy,” which she wrote and produced.

For subscribers of Tidal, Lili K is featured in a video series where she takes viewers through Chicago. She addresses the sudden popularity of Chicago hip hop, but she also dives into the city’s other pockets of music bubbling up. We get a tour of her in-home studio and favorite record stores she goes to while getting a feel for her sound. It’s well worth a watch.
