Beyoncé’s "I Was Here" Campaign Generates 1 Billion Messages of Good Deeds

World Humanitarian Day made social media history.

According to the United Nations, Beyoncé’s "I Was Here" global campaign has been a total success. Their call for good deeds to celebrate World Humanitarian Day this past Sunday brought in one billion messages of hope and service towards others.
"The World Humanitarian Day 2012 campaign has made social media history by sharing more than one billion messages of hope," the U.N. said in a statement. "World Humanitarian Day is a time to recognize those who face danger and adversity in order to help others."
Beyoncé, who was inspired to take on the cause to honor the 22 U.N. staff members who lost their lives in a 2003 terror attack in Iraq, was taped performing her song "I Was Here" from her latest album, 4, and debuted the video Sunday.
