Malcolm X was killed on this day at the Audubon Ballroom in Harlem.
The celebrated American Muslim minister and human rights activist, Malcolm X, was killed in the Audubon Ballroom in Harlem as he was preparing to address the Organization of Afro-American Unity. Malcolm X was considered by his admirers to be a courageous advocate for the rights of African-Americans. His detractors criticized him for indicting white America in harsh terms for its crimes against Black Americans.
