Philly’s Mayor Dissed Trump, Called Out His Own Privilege, And Said Players Have A Right To Kneel
After calling the president a "fragile egomaniac" for disinviting the Philadelphia Eagles to the White House, the mayor of the city sounded off against Donald Trump.
While speaking with reporters for NBC News on Tuesday, Mayor Jim Kenney called Trump "meaningless."
"Donald Trump is meaningless to this whole process, he's meaningless to the city and the city's success. He tries at every chance he gets to tear cities down, and eventually he'll be gone," Kenney said.
The mayor then went on to say that he recognizes his white privilege allows him to happily stand for the anthem because he has not been wronged by the country. However, he understands why some players feel compelled to kneel, an action the president does not seem interested in empathizing with.
Kenney was applauded for speaking on behalf of all Americans' first amendment right to protest
After the video was posted to the shade room, people said "get that guy a plate"
