Look: Ferguson Activist Darren Seals Found Shot Dead in Burning Car
An activist who has led protests and demonstrations in Ferguson was recently found shot dead in a burning car.
St. Louis County Police are unsure of the motive or any suspects who may be responsible for the murder of Darren Seals. The 29-year-old was found early Tuesday morning when two officers were called to a burning vehicle in the Riverside area of St. Louis. When the fire was put out, they found Seals in the car with a gunshot wound.
Officials have labeled the incident a homicide and will be investigating.
Seals was known by many as a prominent figure during the protests in Ferguson. When Michael Brown was shot and killed by Officer Darren Wilson, Seals was in the area and went to the scene to view Brown’s body in the street. He stood with the Brown family when the announcement was made that officer Wilson would not be indicted for killing Michael.
Seals has used his Twitter, @KingDSeals, to post many supportive and thoughtful comments regarding the movement for racial equality. Most recently, he tweeted support for San Francisco 49ers player Colin Kaepernick for sitting during the national anthem. He has also openly criticized the Black Lives Matter movement in Ferguson.
The investigation into Seals’s death is ongoing and more information will be presented as it is made available.
