Summer Walker Faces Criticism Online After Toronto Fans Were Reportedly Left Out In The Cold For Hours After She Showed Up To Her Show Late

"It’s 10:37 pm, there’s no opener and she still isn’t on stage."

Amid the tolls of public scrutiny and added stress of touring, Summer Walker has been candidly open about her struggles with social anxiety. Most recently, the R&B songstress canceled a bulk of her tour in the name of self-care after facing criticism about her live shows and meet and greets.

  • In an effort to mitigate fan expectations for her Toronto show, Summer issued a public service announcement addressed to attendees that gave them an idea of what to expect ahead of Wednesday night’s concert.

“Be ready for a vibe. Lol. If y’all wanna see [two] splits, a back flip, [an] Adele belt, [and] one p**sy pop, this show is not for you,” she wrote on Instagram. “Lol, this is for wine sippers, blunt roller[s], [and] hand swayers.”

  • However, it appears that concertgoers had other frustrations to voice, which they brought to Twitter after the concert. According to firsthand accounts, fans complained that Summer showed up three hours late to her own show, which was reportedly scheduled to start at 8 p.m.

The complaints were exacerbated after fans discovered photos and videos of Summer hanging out in the city, linking up with producer London On Da Track and even Drake at one point. Though it’s not clear when the photos were snapped, fans believe the photo-ops were the reason they were left waiting outside in the chilly weather. According to reports, Summer came out on stage just after 11 p.m and allegedly only performed for about 45 minutes.

  • “So many of us waited 2hrs (more or less) outside in the cold, just to see her to perform past 11PM [and] only for like an hour,” one fan tweeted.

Another fan detailed a similar experience in a Twitter thread, although they acknowledged part of the blame also lies on the venue, which they say “were very disorganized.”

  • Amid the complaints, other people pointed out that the venue could have accommodated fans in the meantime while they waited for the show to start.

“That’s on the venue to let you all inside,” one person wrote.

  • It seems Summer was able to turn things around though, considering surfaced video footage of cheering fans in front of the stage. In a clip obtained by the Shade Room, the crowd was singing along and vibing out to the music.
