IRS Troubles for Lil Wayne and Floyd Mayweather
You would think the rich and famous would be able to keep Uncle Sam off their backs, but apparently not. The Detroit News reports that Lil Wayne was hit with a $5.6 million bill on Monday. The IRS filed the tax lien against the rapper's Miami mansion, which is currently up for sale. If Wayne finds a buyer for the $13 million waterfront estate, the feds could swoop in and collect their money before Weezy gets paid. Looks like he didn't learn his lesson last December when he had to pay off a previous $1.1 million tax lien filed against the same property.
Boxing champ Floyd Mayweather is feeling the heat too, owing the IRS $3.4 million for unpaid 2009 federal income taxes. Mayweather is also no stranger to tax evasion as he was served with a $6.1 million tax bill in 2008. He and the feds worked out a payment plan for it.
Hopefully they don't commit the same mistakes in their 2010 tax returns, but luckily for both, they have three extra days to get it together this year.
