Young Thug's Lawyer Arrested After Refusing to Give Up His Source

The judge in the case probed attorney Brian Steel on details he had about a secret meeting, leading Steel to remain hush-mouthed and then handcuffed.

The Rico case against Young Thug has taken another unexpected turn after his lawyer, Brian Steel, was arrested.

The incident occurred on Monday (June 10) when Judge Ural Glanville questioned Steel about how he gained information about a secret meeting between prosecutors, the judge, and a key witness, as reported by XXL.

Unwilling to budge, Steel was charged with contempt of court. Judge Glanville said he was not supposed to communicate with a state witness sworn to testify.

Even after being charged with contempt of court, Steel did not yield his source, claiming client-attorney privilege.

Following Steel's stance, he was later arrested. Video captured in the courtroom shows the lawyer removing his jacket and tie before being handcuffed.

"You are removing me against his will, my will, and you’re taking away his right to counsel," USA Today reported Steel uttered to the judge.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution cited that Steel has been ordered to spend the next 10 weekends at the Fulton County Jail, totaling 20 days.

After receiving the judge's order, Steel asked if he could do his time on the weekends at the Cobb County Jail instead with his client for their case.

The case is expected to resume on Tuesday (June 11) at 9:30 a.m.
