Alleged Mississippi Cop Killer Found Dead in Jail
Marvin Banks, convicted of killing two Mississippi police officers, was found unresponsive in his jail cell on Friday evening.
Emergency personnel performed CPR and then transferred Banks to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. The Forest County Sheriff’s Department announced the initial autopsy points to an enlarged heart as the cause of death but they will have to wait for further testing in a few weeks.
Banks was sentenced in May for the murder of officers Benjamin Deen and Liquori Tate. Banks allegedly shot both after he was pulled over along with his girlfriend for speeding. While he is the one believed to have shot the officers, eight other people were arrested for criminal assistance, accessory after the fact, and obstruction of the investigation.
In 2010, Banks had pleaded guilty to possession of a stolen gun for which he served a year behind bars. He soon returned after the murder of the two police officers back in May.
