'Sistas' Drama: Two Dads, One Mom, and Endless Tension
Would you want to switch places with Karen? It may seem exciting to have two men vying for your attention for five years straight, but being pregnant by both at once is a new level of chaos. It's obvious Karen wants Zac to be the father of her children, perhaps even as a way to annoy Fatima. And Zac seems to hate Aaron for no reason. Let's examine how their strained relationship could impact raising children together.
Questionable Intros
Neither of these men got a good introduction to the audience. If you remember, in season one, Zac was bumming on Karen's living room sofa. Aaron, on the other hand, is introduced via a grocery store rant about black women being undateable, only for us to learn he's a preacher with an unstable white wife.
Throughout the seasons, Zac has shown that he is mostly a decent person (although the bar isn't very high for this show). However, his impulsive decisions and tendency to fly off the handle get him into trouble. On the flip side, Aaron is consistently level-headed and truthful. But there's something about his calm demeanor that irritates Zac. It could be Aaron's proximity to Karen, but maybe Zac sees in Aaron a trait he knows he lacks – self-control.
Fisticuffs & Low blows
Zac's jealousy is ignited the first time he catches Aaron and Karen sharing a kiss in front of her home and it's been on ever since. The two of them have had multiple physical altercations, including the time when they tore up Karen's house. Mind you, this was after Aaron dropped by on the heels of his wife shooting herself in Karen's salon!
Whenever Aaron and Zac get into it verbally, Zac is quick to mention that Aaron is a man of God or corny, but more distressingly how his wife died by suicide. Yikes! Aaron still finds the will to be patient with him, stating that he's not here to compete with Zac and that he doesn't want to cause trouble.
Where they stand now
The last time we saw Aaron, he called the salon to check on Karen. He doesn't know how not to be the bigger person. Zac is dealing with his own issues — a financial deal with Gary that went south and balancing his family life with Fatima. Karen just learned her twins have two dads and upcoming episodes promise some form of peace between the two men. But this is a soap opera, and peace can only last for so long.
The future
Can you imagine these two throwing punches over Swedish meatballs at a baby shower or cussing each other out in the delivery room? Would Zac be able to keep his mouth in check at the babies' christening? But more importantly, what will happen with Aaron going forward? The show has been phasing him out and his time could be up pretty soon!
