Chris Brown could be heading back to jail after his probation was revoked for the third time Thursday (Jan. 15), ABC News reports. 

During today's court hearing, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge James Brandlin praised Brown for making positive steps, but penalized him for performing at a San Jose nightclub where a shooting broke out last weekend. He also punished Brown for failing to complete court-ordered community service. 

Brown, 25, is not allowed to leave Los Angeles County without permission, and is supposed to finish 1,000 hours of community service by the end of this month. The R&B star still has 200 more hours to go.

Lawyer Marc Geragos said in court that his client was misinformed about the traveling restrictions when he went to San Jose, Calif. Although the “New Flame” singer had no involvement in violence, the incident is the second nightclub shooting where Brown has been in the building. 

Probation Officer Carlos Delgado wrote in a report that Brown has shown an ability to be “compliant during long stretches of his probation” but continues to make “choices that are counterproductive” to successfully completing the probation term. "There is also concern that when he performs or attends at some of his public events, people will get shot or seriously injured,” Delgado said.

Brown was sentenced to five year’s probation for the 2009 Rihanna attack. Judge Brandlin will allow him to stay out of jail pending another hearing on March 20.
