Neo-soul pioneer Erykah Badu took home the Fashion Icon Award at the CFDA Awards in New York, presented by frequent collaborator André 3000. Meanwhile, Halloween saw stars like Halle Bailey, Coi Leray, and Tyla paying homage to Halle Berry's most iconic looks.

On the TV front, Regina Hall and her production company, Rh Negative, have landed a first-look deal with MGM Alternative, which will set up exciting new unscripted shows.

  • Erykah Badu Honored as CFDA Fashion Icon

    Neo-Soul pioneer Erykah Badu was recently honored with the Fashion Icon Award at the CFDA Awards in New York City on October 29. 

    The prestigious award was presented by an ex-boyfriend and musical collaborator, André 3000, who delivered the trophy with a heartfelt introduction. 

    “So then she lets me know, ‘I’m getting the CFDA Award, Fashion Icon Award.’ And then our excitement and celebration, we said something like, ‘Wooo! This the one. And what took ’em so damn long to recognize?’” the rapper humorously shared. 

    Reflecting on their lasting bond, Badu warmly referred to André as her "best friend." Despite ending their relationship in 1999, they continue to support each other and share a son, Seven Sirius Benjamin.

  • Nelly is relaunching his Apple Bottoms clothing line

    Nelly is set to relaunch his iconic Apple Bottoms clothing line in November. Speaking to TMZ, he said, “Our goal as a brand remains the same: celebrating ALL women, all shapes and sizes. We have amazing new styles and are ready to shake the fashion world again … we’re back!!!” 

    The “Ride Wit Me” emcee revealed that the brand will use new technology to provide jeans with a "stretchy form-fitting feel" and expanded inclusive sizes.

  • Regina Hall set to produce new competition show

    Regina Hall and her production company, Rh Negative, have entered a first-look deal with MGM Alternative, the unscripted branch of Amazon MGM Studios, to develop various unscripted shows, such as game shows, true crime, and docuseries. 

    The first project, “Squad Games,” is a competition show “loosely inspired” by “Girls Trip,” where celebrities and their best friends face off in exotic challenges. 

    Hall expressed her excitement “for this new partnership with MGM” and “I’m thrilled about what we have in the works.”

  • Coi Leray, Halle Bailey, and Tyla recreate iconic Halle Berry looks for Halloween

    Halle Berry’s legacy was alive and well this Halloween, with Gen Z stars honoring her unforgettable roles in style. 

    Coi Leray kept it fierce and classic, rocking a custom leather outfit inspired by Berry’s iconic “Catwoman.” The Oscar-winning actress couldn’t hold back, commenting, “Killed it!!” with a proud clap emoji. 

    Meanwhile, Halle Bailey took her costume to the beach, recreating Berry’s "Jinx" character from “Die Another Day” with a short pixie cut and a bold orange bikini. Berry was all heart, calling it “a huge compliment” and showing love to Bailey as “angel.”

    “Truth or Dare” singer Tyla went all-out prehistoric as Berry’s Sharon Stone character from “The Flintstones,” adding a playful “bad girl” caption. Berry was thrilled, replying with a heart-eyed emoji. 

    Excited by all the love, Berry, who dressed up as a classic witch, with a black cat and all, took to X to gush, “The girls know how to make my day!” 

  • Wayans brothers return to Scary Movie franchise

    The iconic “Scary Movie” franchise is back with the original masterminds—the Wayans brothers—reuniting for the first time in nearly two decades.

    An entirely new screenplay is being crafted. Filming is slated for next year, and a theatrical release will follow. 

    Marlon, Shawn, and Keenen Ivory Wayans, along with longtime collaborator Rick Alvarez, are at the helm, both writing and producing this new installment.

    In an Instagram post, Marlon wrote : Last week i said i had a HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT to make well here it is…

    WE’RE BACK!!! After nearly 20 years, the Wayans brothers are finally going to give the fans what they’ve been asking for… a return to the SCARY MOVIE franchise!  We’re looking forward to having fun on the big screen again.”
