A Phoenix mother of three lost control and allegedly killed her three sons before trying to end her own life.

Octavia Rogers reportedly spoke to her brother late Wednesday night about God and the meaning of life before locking herself inside the family’s house.

The 29-year-old woman’s brother forced his way into the home before she emerged from a room covered in blood with stab wounds across her abdomen and neck. Rogers supposedly told her brother she was pregnant.

When he tried to rush to her aide with towels to stop the bleeding, she attempted to drown herself in the bathtub. Rogers was later taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

Early Thursday morning investigators discovered the bodies of her two oldest sons — Jaikare Rahaman, 8, and 5-year-old Jeremiah Adams — stuffed inside a closet. Her youngest, 2-month-old Avery Robinson, was found in a suitcase further back in the same closet.

Initially, Rogers lied to officers, saying the kids were left with a caretaker. It’s unclear when they boys were murdered, but investigators reported that the children appeared to have been stabbed to death and “parts of their bodies were dismembered.” A source noted the woman was high on SPICE, synthetic marijuana, during the murders.

Family and friends were shocked by the news as Phoenix Police Sgt. Trent Crump said it was “an absolutely horrific scene for the officers and the brother. Nobody wants to see this happen to a child, nobody.”

“She didn’t go out, she didn’t party, she didn’t do any of that,” said the children’s grandmother, Tanella McCoy, who also lived in the family home.

McCoy went on to describe the eldest son as a “book scholar,” the 5-year-old as her “muscleman” and her youngest grandson, Avery, as a “good baby.”

Neighbor Lynn Roberson, who knew all three boys and their mother, said “there were no red flags.”

Although the Arizona Department of Child Safety reported previously receiving three inquiries involving Rogers’s children, she “refused to receive services” and the allegations did not warrant removing the kids.

Rogers is expected to survive her self-inflicted injuries and will likely face charges of homicide when she’s released from the hospital.
