Say what you will about the high-pitch-toned producer, songwriter and singer icon The-Dream, but the four-time Grammy Award-winning music artist has given us a healthy abundance of hits over the years.

For Drake fans, one of those hits happens to be the 2010 “Shut It Down” track, the first and last project Dream would ever team up with Drizzy on after recently revealing his gripe with the OVO leader.

During the first-ever Genius Level interview, The-Dream unlocked several surprises from his musical vault, like the fact that he wrote one of Beyonce’s acclaimed hit singles, “Single Ladies,” in just 17 minutes. Another shocker came when he was asked why he never rejoined forces with Drizzy after working with him on the Thank Me Later track, in which Dream revealed that he didn’t appreciate Drake’s cold shoulder to his feature request later on.

“I think when the next album came along — since people want to know why we never worked together again — I asked him to get on a record, and he never got on the record,” he recalled. “So I’m only going to ask you once, especially when I’ve already done something for you. So that went through his people directly to him and whatever that thing was, that was it. That’s the end of the Drake and Dream era.”

Not that the “Falsetto” crooner had much to worry about when it came to features, anyway, especially after the star-ridden guest feature roster of his IV Play album three years after the collaboration. Grabbing only the most major talents from both R&B and hip-hop, Dream swiped names like Queen Bey, Jay Z, Kelly Rowland, 2 Chainz and Pusha T on the project, which landed at No. 16 on the Billboard 200 chart.
