The Heart Truth's Red Dress Collection 2012 fashion show took place Wednesday (February, 8) in New York City's Hammerstein Ballroom and a list of Black stars showed up to support women and heart disease awareness. The annual event features actresses, singers and other celebs dressed in their best red gowns to bring attention to a disease that stands as the number one killer of women in the United States. It's also known to be more prevalent among African-American women than white women.
Chaka Khan
walked the runway wearing a Chris March design while La La Anthony rocked a figure-fitting Rachel Roy dress. Vivica A. FoxAisha Tyler and Phylicia Rashad were also on hand to lend their support to the cause, along with Rebecca Romijn, Gloria Estefan, Idina Menzel, Rose McGowan and Minka Kelly.
The Heart Truth's Red Dress Collection was created by Million Hearts, a campaign by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to prevent a million heart attacks and strokes by 2017. This year's 10th run of the fashion show marked the beginning of New York City Fashion Week.
