Kanye West to Headline Glastonbury Festival

Yeezy will make his first appearance at UK concert.

For the first time ever, England’s Glastonbury Festival will welcome Kanye West as one of the headlining acts of the four-day music event, organizers announced Monday (March 16). West is scheduled to takeover the Pyramid Stage on Saturday, June 27.

While the full lineup has yet to be announced, previously revealed acts include the Foo Fighters, who will hold down Friday night, and Lionel Richie, billed for Sunday. This year's sold-out festival runs from June 24-28.

As noted by Billboard, Jay Z was the first hip hop act to play Glastonbury, and it wasn’t without objection from festival-goers wanting a rock act in his place. Similarly, the announcement of West’s headlining gig was not well-received by fans of the festival. A small petition has been started on Change.org titled, “Cancel Kanye West’s Headline Slot and Get a Rock Band.”

At press time, the petition had received less than 500 signatures.
