‘College Hill: Celebrity Edition’: Get to Know Nick Young

Young will likely bring a chill to the new season. Here are some quick facts about his life and career.

Nick “Swaggy P” Young is part of the upcoming “College Hill: Celebrity Edition” season 3 cast. The career basketball player is retired from the NBA, but doing reality TV and returning to college seems like a good idea for such a standout personality. For the most part, we know him to be laid back and as someone who has given us one of the greatest memes of bewilderment of all time. But what elements of his personality will he bring to the show this season? Here are five quick facts about the baller from Los Angeles.

Basketball is Life

The native Los Angeleno has been playing basketball his entire life. He played in high school and then at USC for the Trojans, where he was a two-time first-team all-conference selection in the Pac-10.

His Nickname is Divinely Begotten

His nickname, “Swaggy P,” came to him in a dream. He said he was having a conversation with God, who gave him the nickname at that time. They had a long back-and-forth about it, but in the end, he felt that he had to listen to the man upstairs, so “Swaggy P” was born. Mmmkay.

He Dated Iggy Azalea

He might want to forget this, given that their split got ugly. Iggy accused him of cheating; he accused her of taking his car. It all spilled over to social media, of course, for all the world to see.

He’s Related to Kendrick Lamar

He and fellow LA Native Kendrick Lamar are cousins.

About That Meme

We all know the meme because we’ve seen it being used about confusion. The story goes that while shooting a web series for Youtuber Cassy Athena, Young’s mother mentioned that he used to be a clown growing up. Young wasn’t ready to be lightweight dragged by his mom like that, as conveyed by his now epic facial expression.
