Brandy Signs Deal with RCA

The R&B singer gets second chance at comeback.

Things are looking up for Brandy. The R&B singer, who publicly documented her struggle to make a comeback in music on the VH1 reality series Brandy & Ray J: A Family Affair, got a big break recently with the announcement of a new major label deal.
L.A. Times music blog Pop & Hiss confirmed Monday [August 22] that the Grammy Award-winning singer has signed a deal with RCA records.
"This is truly a blessing," Brandy said in a statement. "Breyon Prescott, Peter Edge and Tom Corson [RCA Music Group's president and chief operating officer] believe in me and have introduced me to a home that also believes and knows exactly what to do with the type of music I'm doing. Breyon and the team at RCA/Chameleon are creative and forward-thinking and I am thrilled to be working with them."
Brandy's previous partnership with Epic Records produced one album, 2008's Human. Although the album was disappointing commercially, RCA and producer Breyon Prescott's Chameleon Records have decided to give Brandy a second chance at staging a comeback.
"Throughout her career, Brandy has consistently won the vote as everyone's favorite female vocalist," said Peter Edge, chief executive of RCA Music Group said in a statement. "I am sure that in her next chapter at RCA and in partnership with Breyon Prescott, we will record her most exciting music to date."
Brandy is expected to release her next album on RCA next year.
