Joe Budden: 'I Am Scared to Death of People Like Troy Ave'

Joey is awfully concerned for the Brooklyn rap star.

Brooklyn rap banger Troy Ave has unapologetically tread into hot controversy for the past few years by way of several incidents, statements and, more recently, comparisons.

So after making his way into the topic of conversation on Everyday Struggle, Joe Budden’s uneasiness with Troy’s Type A personality is actually quite reasonable.

Approaching the conversation of Troy, who recently explained the title of his upcoming NuPac album during his The Breakfast Club visit, Budden immediately grabbed the floor with, “I am scared to death of people like Troy Ave.”

He added that he has even attempted to “intervene” with Troy on several occasions, including his out-of-line remarks on the late Capital Steez’s suicide and Detroit’s hip-hop hometown hero Eminem. Such brash behavior, Joey believes, could only point to a mental health burden that’s only recently been brought to the forefront of hip-hop: depression.

“Like anybody that’s ever battled depression, Troy Ave’s scope is a bit off and he seems to have very, very little regard for human life,” he said. “Anybody with very little regard for human life scares me to absolute death.”

Troy, who has also been frequently spotted while sporting a bulletproof vest beneath his clothes, has had a new take on life and fame following two nearly fatal shooting incidents last year. Though he was cleared of a murder charge in the Irving Plaza shootout of May 2016, a Christmas Day incident in the same year ended in a grazed head and wounded shoulder for the Crown Heights rap star. Still, his self-comparison to Tupac Shakur, who had also been shot a few times before fatally suffering gunshot wounds in September 1996, might be the boldest yet of his new attitude.

Listen to what Joey has to say about it in the video below.
