Quinta Brunson and Her Husband Are Splitting After Three Years Together
Quinta Brunson is closing a chapter in her personal life.
The “Abbott Elementary” creator and star has filed for divorce from her husband, Kevin Jay Anik, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE. The actress and comedian submitted the petition on Tuesday, March 19, citing “irreconcilable differences” with the date of separation listed as “TBD.”
The filing also states that the Emmy winner and Anik “entered into a postnuptial agreement which governs the disposition of their property.” Brunson also requested that each party cover their own attorney’s fees.
Brunson and Anik, who works in California's legal cannabis industry, tied the knot in October 2021 but have remained incredibly private about their relationship.
In fact, the actress and writer didn’t publicly acknowledge their marriage until her 2022 Emmy Awards acceptance speech, where she shouted him out while taking home the trophy for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series.

“In case I am not back up here again, I have to thank my mom, dad, brothers and sisters, my cousins … my wonderful husband because he's the most supportive man I've ever known,” she said during her emotional moment, also praising her cast and show for helping bring “Abbott” to life.
The following year, she once again gave Anik a loving nod while accepting the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a TV Musical or Comedy. “I love my husband. I'm so happy,” Brunson said through tears.
While the pair mostly stayed out of the spotlight, Brunson has been open about how important her support system has been throughout her meteoric rise in Hollywood. The divorce news comes as “Abbott Elementary” continues its successful third season, with Brunson at the helm both on and off screen.
