Watch: Parents of Micah Xavier Johnson Speak Out
Many people who knew Dallas shooter Micah Xavier Johnson have come out to speak of their past experiences with the veteran. Now, Johnson's parents have broken their silence and are speaking out about their son.
Delphine and James Johnson sat down with The Blaze’s Lawrence Jones to talk about their reaction to their son's actions.
After his experience in the military, Delphine recalls her son turning from a personable extrovert into a “hermit.” She recalled that when Micah was younger, he expressed a great interest in being a police officer. According to Delphine, “[Micah] loved his country, he wanted to protect his country.”
James recalls his son becoming extremely interested in Black history as well as Black power groups. Although he never expressed any hatred towards anyone of a particular race, Micah did grow extremely angry after the shootings of Alton Sterling in Louisiana and Philando Castile in Minnesota.
Micah’s stepmother, Donna, is white and also participated in the interview. The exclusive sit-down is set to air in its entirety later in the week.
