People Are Saying Megyn Kelly Can Keep Her Mayo Covered On-Air Apology After Defending Blackface
It looks like Megyn Kelly (or her producers) gave into the backlash surrounding her egregious blackface for Halloween segment and issued an on-air apology.
There's only one problem, no one quite believes her.
On Wednesday, Kelly issued the apology at the top of her show.
“I want to begin with two words: I’m sorry,” Kelly said at the start of “Megyn Kelly Today” on Wednesday. “You may have heard yesterday that we had a discussion here about political correctness and Halloween costumes. And that conversation turned to whether it is ever OK for a person of one race to dress up as another. ”
She continued: “I defended the idea, saying as long as it was respectful and part of the Halloween costume, it seemed OK. Well, I was wrong and I am sorry.”
Kelly received a standing ovation at the end of her apology
Although the people in the audience seemed satisfied, people on Twitter were unimpressed
Even Wendy Williams went in on Kelly for the distasteful comment
After playing her apology for her studio audience, Williams said she wasn't here for it.
"Excuse me. This is such a basic thing for such an educated woman to know. She was lying," said Wendy. "She had a whole bunch of Black people in the audience. I guess they got a bottle of Gold Bond!"
