Consequences and Repercussions for Johnny Manziel
Johnny Manziel went from being a potential NFL star to an indicted man.
The downfall of the troubled former quarterback continued Sunday, when a grand jury indicted him for the alleged January assault of his ex-girlfriend Colleen Crowley, as reported by TMZ Sports. If convicted, Manziel could be locked up in a county jail for up to one year.
Perhaps the most disturbing part of this story is a source told TMZ Sports that Manziel is currently under the impression that the grand jury hasn't turned in the charges. Yeah, uh, extensive partying will do that to you.
The January incident allegedly had Manziel hitting Crowley several times during an argument in the car after exiting a Dallas bar. Crowley reportedly exclaimed "I'm scared for my life" following the alleged incident.
Manziel's indictment came four days after ESPN reported that Nike severed ties with the troubled QB. The swoosh signed Manziel to an endorsement deal in March 2014 before reportedly dropping him shortly after the 2015 NFL season, which ended in early January.
Add all this to the reports that Manziel has a serious substance abuse problem and this situation is all too real.
