Watch: DC Restaurant Maggiano's Apologizes After Hosting Trump-Supporting White Nationalist Group
The Washington, D.C., location of Dallas-based Italian restaurant Maggiano’s posted an official apology to their Facebook page after “inadvertently” hosting an alt-right, white nationalist group who performed Nazi salutes, reported the Dallas Morning News.
The restaurant said that last week, a group called the National Policy Institute made a last-minute reservation under a different name and "therefore we were not aware that [National Policy Institute] was dining with us or what the group represents."
On the website for NPI, they advertised themselves as an "independent organization dedicated to the heritage, identity, and future of people of European descent in the United States, and around the world."
After it became public knowledge the Maggiano's hosted the group, protesters held up outside the Friendship Heights restaurant.
While Maggiano's accidentally hosted the group, several Trump supporters performed Nazi salutes
Protesters then held demonstrations outside of Maggiano's
On Monday, Maggiano's posted the formal apology
