Kendrick Perkins Disputes Details of Arrest
By now we’ve all heard Oklahoma City Thunder center Kendrick Perkins was arrested over the weekend for attempting to “fight everyone” among other things in a Beaumont, Texas, bar.
The incident, which included public intoxication and disorderly conduct charges early Saturday morning, is minor in nature, it just serves as a bit of an embarrassment for the locked out NBA. But now Perkins’ lawyer, Langston Adams, says his client is innocent. He has witnesses who will confirm as much.
But Perkins’ lawyer won’t stop there. He is exploring filing a police brutality complaint against the police in the Southeast Texas town. Perkins apparently got into a verbal disagreement with the management of the sports bar where he held a charity event following his second annual basketball camp.
“Mr. Perkins has maintained his innocence to the charges and is recovering at home with family suffering from injuries he received during the incident,” Adams said in a released statement to kiiitv.com.
Only a misdemeanor charge was derived from the arrest. Perkins had to pay $150 bail.
