65th Annual Grammy Awards: 5 Quintessential Songs By Latto

The Atlanta rapper received two nods, including one for 'Best New Artist'.

The 65th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony is fast approaching, and in preparation for this year’s big event, we’re getting folks geared up and ready for their favorite artists to take home some hardware.

It’s music that ties everyone together, and sometimes, you just need a little trip down memory lane in remembrance of why those nominated are so talented. For us, it’s just putting together a little tribute to those who get us through the daily grind or are a point of relaxation when chillin’ around the crib or riding around in the whip.

Latto is among the newest in the game to receive a Grammy nod, which is probably what contributed to her earning a nomination for Best New Artist.

To commemorate, BET.com has compiled five quintessential songs by Latto (see below).

  • “B***h From Da Souf (2019)

It’s the hit, that eventually went platinum, which helped put Latto on the hip-hop map. Appearing on her debut album Queen of Da Souf, “B***h From Da Souf” successfully established her southern bonafides and made her a force to be reckoned with to this day. Also, adding Saweetie and Trina to the remix didn’t hurt the song’s legacy in any way.

  • “Sex Lies (Feat. Lil Baby)” (2020)

A slower single, “Sex Lies” describes Latto’s freakier side and everyone’s urges to act out when it’s that time to get down. Featuring Lil Baby, the track is one of the standouts from Queen of Da Souf.

  • “Soufside” (2021)

Latto reps Atlanta hard and on her 2021 hit “Soufside” she lets everyone know what part of the city she calls home. In the song’s video, which features fellow ATLien Monica, Latto cruises around the city in a pink car, repping her roots at every given opportunity while flexing her influence as a rapper. It’s some of her best bars on a song to-date.

  • “Big Energy” (2021)

A flip of Mariah Carey’s 1995 song “Fantasy,” “Big Energy” is an anthem all about courage and the will to put yourself out there. Latto has previously cited that the track helped her to have more “open ears,” “being a true creative,” and “being open to anything.” It was also dope to have Carey and DJ Khaled on the remix.

  • “It’s Givin” (2022)

“Don’t ever play me like I’m average.” We’re not, and this song is giving everything Latto notes on the hook. It’s giving banger. Period.
