Snoop Dogg Loses $200,000 to Italian Customs
Snoop Dogg just took a very expensive trip to Italy. The rapper was forced to hand over $205,933 to the Italian Finance Police on Saturday, after he was caught carrying far more cash than the maximum allowed (about $11,000) at an airport in Calabria.
Airport customs laws put a limit on the amount of cash each person can carry in and out of a country to prevent money laundering, and it looks like Snoop's negligence will cost him in the six figures.
Snoop was found with the surplus cash during a routine customs check, a police source tells CNN. The rapper arrived in Europe earlier this week via private jet, for a performance in the village of Montepaone. He told police that the cash was to pay his band for concerts in Italy and elsewhere, the source said.
Despite the setback, Snoop was allowed to continue on to London, but the issue isn't over yet. The finance police say they have a lot of questions for the promoter of the Italian concert and how the rapper was paid.
No word on whether or not Snoop will ever see his Gs again.
