New Reports Suggests Las Vegas Gunman Allegedly Planned To Attack Chance The Rapper Concert
As the country begins to heal after the horrific terror attack that took place in Las Vegas earlier this week, more disturbing details about gunman Stephen Paddock have come to light. According to a new report on The Daily Beast, the 64-year-old terrorist initially planned to unleash his machine gun on concert goers at a festival that Chance The Rapper was headlining before hitting the 91 Route Harvest show.
Chance was reportedly headlining the Life Is Beautiful Festival alongside pop singer Lorde in Las Vegas the weekend prior to the actual shooting. Paddock had reportedly rented multiple condos overlooking the annual festival, according to a source close to DB. Although the news site did not reveal its source, reporters visited the Ogden condominium tower — the alleged rental location — where they discovered that the luxury building had a clear line of sight to the concert grounds.
Although Paddock fired a machine gun from an overlooking hotel building at the Route 91 Harvest, Fais Foley public affairs officer Melissa Warren says it is unclear whether Paddock planned to hit the Life Is Beautiful festival. “We're not in a position to confirm or deny anything about Mr. Paddock's dealings. I suggest you contact Metro [police]. As you know this is an ongoing investigation,” Warren said. Even so, DB’s source suggests that Paddock may have lost his nerve to hit the previous concert or simply changed his plans at the last minute.
As previously reported, law enforcement found at least 23 guns at his suite at the Mandalay Bay Hotel, including a handful of rifles and automatic weapons. Officers also discovered an additional 19 firearms and an explosive at his residence in Mesquite, Nevada.
Paddock reportedly killed more than 50 people while injuring nearly 500 more. He committed suicide following the attack.
