Lizzo Talks Breaking Stereotypes And Embracing Her Status As A Body Icon: ‘I Think I Have A Really Hot Body!’
Lizzo is a body icon, and she knows it! The Grammy winner recently appeared on the cover of PEOPLE's Women Changing the World Issue and opened up about using her influence to create a platform for other women with curves.
"I think I have a really hot body! I'm a body icon, and I'm embracing that more and more every day," Lizzo shared with the publication about changing the way the world sees beauty. "It may not be one person's ideal body type just like, say, Kim Kardashian might not be someone's ideal, but she's a body icon and has created a modern-day beauty standard.”
She continued, "And what I'm doing is stepping into my confidence and my power to create my own beauty standard. And one day that will just be the standard."
Lizzo is also over the "fat girl" stereotype, explaining, "I don't think I'm the only kind of fat girl there is. I want us to be freed from that box we've been put in.”
From singing and rapping songs that celebrate natural beauty to sharing her self-care and self-love journey on social media, there is no question that the “Good As Hell” singer is a true advocate for body positivity.
"I deserve the spotlight. I deserve the attention. I'm talented, I'm young, I'm hot. You know? And I've worked hard,” the 33-year-old beauty explained. "I had to blaze a trail. There was no Lizzo before Lizzo."
No lie detected. Everyone knows that Lizzo breaks barriers and puts stereotypes to shame—and we love every minute of it!
