Keke Palmer Pleads for Help on Social Media to Remove Faux Locs

The multi-talented media star was all of us struggling to take down the protective style.

Faux locs is one of the most popular protective styles around. The look is the perfect choice if you're looking for that sexy bohemian look. But while wearing them may feel like Heaven, taking them out is sometimes pure hell.

Ask Keke Palmer.

The 29-year-old multi-talented superstar had to turn to her fans for help getting her faux locs out last week.

"I'm about to scream," the star wrote on Twitter, according to Popsugar. She re-shared the tweet on her Instagram Stories. "I have been taking my hair down for two days straight." Palmer shared that was on the verge of tears, and went on to ask for any and all tips that could help make the process easier. "No, like seriously, I feel trapped, help!"

Faux locs are basically a super-easy (and much faster) way of getting the look of locs without the commitment.

There are generally two methods of installing them:

The braid-and-wrap method involves braiding your natural hair and then wrapping hair extensions around each braid.

The cornrow-and-crochet method involves braiding your natural hair into cornrows and then crocheting the faux locs onto the cornrows with a latch hook.

The first method is a lot harder to remove, though.

Earlier this spring, social media star Lala Milan also shared her struggle to remove her faux locs. She even had to cut out a patch of hair.

"I don’t ever want to see any FAUX DREADS AGAIN! Yes faux DREADS bc taking them out was dreadful. This video just keeps getting worst and worst," she wrote on Instagram. "RIP Patchita.. you will forever be missed. Please respect my privacy at this time as I grieve," Milan wrote.

No word on how Keke got her faux locs out. But LovingKinkyCurls.com says that one of the key things to remember is to moisturize and be gentle with your hair. Good luck, natural girlies! Because the struggle is real.
