Angela Simmons recently headed into Harlem to gather the community’s young girls and treat them to a day of serious chatting, makeovers, and guest appearances by some of her inspiring celeb friends. Simmons and her friend Kerri Berson Levine joined forces with the Boys and Girls Club three years ago to form GIRLTALK #takeover, and last week’s event was full of fun surprises for the 200 teens in attendance.

Speaking out about pressures young teens feel to have sex prematurely, Simmons said, “I feel like in this day and age with social media, that decision is often made for them. So I want them to be able to make their own decision on what they want to do and to know that if they make the decision, they’re not an alien, they’re not by themselves.”

The 8- to 16-year-old girls participated in fitness activities with Pretty Girls Sweat, fashion and beauty sessions, and health chats about relationships, sex, and puberty. Little League superstar Mo’Ne Davis, Ne-Yo, Diggy Simmons and Justine Skye were also on hand to greet the girls.

Judging from the Instagram shots from the big day, it looks like the girls had an absolute blast celebrating their awesome selves.
