More Inconsistency From Tiger Woods
Tiger Woods has a new caddie and new watch sponsor, but he is still struggling with inconsistency on the golf course.
Woods shot a 2-over-par 73 during the opening round of the Frys.com Open on Thursday, marking his first time in competition since he failed to make the cut at the PGA Championship and subsequently did not qualify for the Fed Ex Cup Playoffs.
Woods is in jeopardy of missing the cut of this Fall Series event where just nine of the top 100 players in the world are competing. He is only six strokes off the lead, but is tied for 86th in the 132-player field. Only the top 70 and ties make the 36-hole cut on Friday.
Woods's game has had all types of flaws this last year. Putting was his Achilles' heel on Thursday. He missed some makeable shots for birdie, coming up with two bogeys and a double bogey on the 12th hole.
"I'm not happy," Woods said following the opening round. "It's one of my worst putting rounds. I don't think I could putt worse than I did."
This is Woods's first tournament with Joe LaCava as his caddie and Rolex is now his new watch sponsor.
