Lauryn Hill Responds to Wyclef at Concert
Lauryn Hill won't be a pawn in anyone's game. The hip hop star took time out at a recent show to address comments made by her former Fugees bandmate Wyclef Jean, making it clear she would take the high road in the controversy.
In September, Wyclef released his first autobiography, Purpose, detailing his relationship with Hill and accusing the "Lost Ones" singer of tricking him into believing her first child was his. 'Clef made headlines all over the Internet with the public disclosure of his extramarital affair with Hill. However, despite the uproar, Lauryn did not respond. At a recent Life Is Good/Black Rage tour stop in Dallas, the star finally spoke her piece, but in a subliminal fashion.
"Let me tell you why I don't chat back. Because I know that my brothers and my sisters are often times pawns in a bigger scheme so when they, under pressure, attack me, I love them still," said Hill. "It's called the high road. Try taking it sometime."
Dropping more knowledge, the singer-rapper went on to discuss oppression in Haiti, Jamaica, America, Europe and other parts of the world. She performed new music at the concert and continues to travel on tour with Nas.
