Black Mormon Republican Mia Love Target of Racist Hate Mail

Police are investigating source of "racist and creepy" materials sent to congressional candidate Mia Love.

Mia Love, mayor of Saratoga Springs, Utah, has put on a brave face in response to mailings to her office that the city manager has described as "disturbing" and "pretty creepy stuff." Last week, the politician, who aims to be the first Black Republican woman in Congress, received a package that included a picture of the congressional candidate and her husband and a Ku Klux Klan character, as well as pictures of aborted fetuses, Deseret News reports.
"Oh, you know, it's just to be expected," she said in an interview with Fox News host Greta Van Susteren. "Am I surprised? No. Am I disappointed? Absolutely."
City Manager Mark Christensen told Deseret News that the package included fliers, pictures and pages from the Internet that caused enough concern to involve the police.

Love, however, is undeterred.
"I want you to know, I want everyone to know I'm comfortable in my skin. I'm comfortable and proud of my heritage. I'm proud of who I am," she said. "I know where I'm going and I know what we need to do to get this country back in order again. There isn't anything that anyone can send me that will distract me from that so they can bring it."
