Jeezy Gets Political With CNN
With mass shootings in San Bernardino, Calif., and Colorado over the last two weeks, gun control dialogue continues to circulate the political climate. Jeezy recently sat down to talk firearms and other political hot topics with CNN.
“Guns have always been a part of my upbringing whether it was my Uncle’s hunting riffle, or your cousin’s military issue weapon or the police having gun,” he explained. “I read something the other day that said when the Muslim does something you blame it on religion, but when a white kid goes out and shoots a whole movie theater, he was a ‘lone wolf.’ You gotta really look at that and break it down. It’s not the guns, it’s the people who have the guns, people who have emotional and mental problems who are taking firearms and not thinking about it.”
Another subject taking the forefront in social discussions is the rise of Black Lives Matter. Jeezy explained the movement from his perspective. “From my eyes, all lives matter. Especially Black ones, but all lives matter,” he said. “A lot of the problems we have today in our community is about that particular issues, human lives. It’s a thin line between knowing who’s with you and who’s going to try to hurt you.”
Later in the interview, Pastor Young discusses a possible solution to counter gun violence, and the criminal justice system.
