Closing Arguments to Be Heard in Lil Boosie Murder Trial

Jurors will hear both sides make their case for the final time as Lil Boosie's future lays in the balance.

Both the defense and prosecutors rested Thursday in the first-degree murder trial of Lil Boosie, marking an end to the first phase of the proceedings. Jurors are scheduled to hear closing arguments from both sides this morning (Friday).
Defense attorneys for Boosie, 29, born Torrence L. Hatch, called no witnesses during the trial, instead opting to vigorously cross-examine a lengthy string of witnesses for the prosecution, who numbered 27 over six days, according to The Advocate.
Boosie is accused of hiring Michael "Marlo Mike" Louding to kill Terry Boyd, 35, whose sister has a daughter with Boosie. Louding was just 17 at the time of the murder, and is accused of five other murders during the same period.
During his testimony, Louding said that a prior confession, in which he told police Boosie paid him $2,800 to kill Boyd, was coerced during an interrogation in which detectives threatened him and his family. He said that neither he, nor Boosie, knew anything about Boyd's murder.
The detectives denied this story.
Rochelle Wagner, Boyd's sister and the mother of Boosie's 5-year-old daughter, testified that her brother and Boosie did not have beef, and that they were neither friends nor enemies.
The prosecution is not seeking the death penalty in this case, so Boosie is facing a sentence of life in prison if convicted. After hearing closing arguments today, jurors will go into deliberation, which could take anywhere from hours to days.
