Jennifer Josephine Hosten crowned Miss World at the inaugural pageant.

Jennifer Josephine Hosten of Grenada won the title of Miss World at the inaugural pageant. Pearl Jansen of South Africa claimed second place; it would be the first time two Black women had taken top honors at a major international pageant.
