GloRilla Surprises Memphis High School with $25K Donation

Melrose High School’s new library will be named after the rapper, championing education in the Orange Mound neighborhood.

GloRilla’s latest act of kindness is striking all the right chords.

The “Yeah Glo!” hitmaker recently made a generous $25,000 donation to Melrose High School in her hometown of Memphis, TN, to support educational opportunities.

The contribution will be used to fund the construction of a new library aimed at promoting literacy not just at Melrose but also across the Orange Mound community. Once completed, the library will be renamed the Gloria H. Woods Media Center in her honor.

“I always wished somebody could do that when I was going to school, and so the fact that I get to do it now, it warms my heart,” she shared in a statement at the school on Wednesday (Dec. 18).

This isn’t the first time the emcee has given back to her community. In 2022, the “F.N.F” rapper donated $25,000 to Martin Luther King College Prep in Frayser, and in 2023, she contributed $20,000 to Westside Middle School.

This latest gesture caps off an incredible year for GloRilla, who was recently crowned Billboard's Hottest Female Rapper of 2024, solidifying her impact both in music and in her community.
