Melania Slammed For Wearing Colonial Attire In Africa Then Saying Don’t Focus On ‘What I Wear’
Melania Trump is either seriously in need of a new stylists or she is trolling us all with her inappropriate attire worn in serious situations.
First, Melania wore a "I Really Don't Care Do U" jacket while visiting migrant children detained at the border. Then, the First Lady took her first solo trip to several African countries and did everything from taking the classic white lady surrounded by Black babies photo op to wearing a hat that resembled a pith, often worn by British colonizers.
First lady Melania Trump was photographed on a safari at Nairobi National Park in Nairobi, Kenya. When people began criticizing her for colonist garb, she told reporters she wants people to "focus on what I do, not what I wear."
People on Twitter found it difficult to focus on Trump's actions when she was wearing a hat that was widely used by European military throughout Africa and India. The pith became a staple hat for civilian Europeans visiting or living in colonies in the 1930s.
