Several NBA Games Have Been Postponed Amid Covid Outbreak
After a wave of Covid-19 cases, the NBA has postponed at least five games this weekend due to the league's health and safety protocols. While the NBA has been dealing with a rash of coronavirus diagnosis amid the onset of the Omicron variant, the league has been struggling to maintain its regularly scheduled games.
Recently, the NBA postponed several games, including Cleveland at Atlanta, Denver at Brooklyn and New Orleans at Philadelphia. Also postponed were Orlando’s game at Toronto on Monday and Washington’s game at Brooklyn on Tuesday. Still, the NBA is scheduled to host their marquee Christmas day schedule, which includes five matchups between the Atlanta Hawks and New York Knicks, Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks, Golden State Warriors and Phoenix Suns, Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Lakers, and Dallas Mavericks and Utah Jazz.
Currently, there are 68 players in the NBA's health and safety protocols which means the league's Christmas day games are in question, despite a 97 percent vaccination rate in the the NBA.
When it comes to the Omicron variant, the NBA is hoping its games are able to go on without a hitch, however, several star players have been missing right now, including Kevin Durant, Trae Young, James Harden, Pascal Siakam, Kyrie Irving, Joel Embiid, Al Horford and more.
