Kanye West's Latest Slavery Comments Are About Harriet Tubman...

“One thing I got from the TMZ comment, it showed me how much Black people love me…”

Kanye West pulled up to Chicago’s WGCI and found himself in the hot seat during a recent interview. The often-misconceptualized emcee immediately became defensive when asked about his role in Pusha T and Drake’s on-again/off-again beef. West made it clear saying that he did not drop Drake’s baby-bomb on Push because he’s “ye and got major things to do other than [gossiping],” but he prefer to opted out of that conversation.

The Chi-town native also discussed his MAGA stance and compared it to rivaling gangs. “We all know the fact that Black people used to be Republican. Liberals, right/left, red/blue, it’s like a gang. It’s like Bloods and Crips. The hat was a statement of bravery...”

The hosts mentioned that West has disassociated himself from the initial pro-black stance from the earlier moments in his career. Piggying back off the constant rumors that he’s in the sunken place, Ye stated, “we talk about Get Out and that flash of light, [but] that’s as flash of light to us as an entire community to see things that we weren’t seeing when Obama was in office.”

  • “We as a collective wasn’t woke...”

West continued with the answer from the embarrassing moment on Jimmy Kimmel, since he left he wasn’t given apt time to answer. At the 19:21 mark, he said, “[Trump] has an ego and wants to be the greatest president, but [can’t that happen] without the acceptance from the Black community.”

  • It seemed as though he still has some words about slavery. ICYMI: ‘Ye discussed “slavery [being] a choice” with TMZ around the 3:40 mark

  • Ye said slavery seemed like a choice to him, not in a generalized sense.

At the 30:03 mark, the “Heartless” rapper broke down his slave comments in its entirety: “it sounds like a choice to the spirit of Kanye West, which I think is aligned with the spirit of Harriet Tubman, which I think is aligned with the spirit of Nat Turner. In my non-historical opinion, I feel that these are examples from the past of people who felt similar to that, even if it was worded incorrectly in the white man’s tongue.”
