Lil Wayne's Vintage Lyric Notebook Hits the Market with a $5M Price Tag
After a lengthy five-year legal tussle, Lil Wayne's old lyric notebook is now poised for sale with a six-figure price tag.
According to TMZ, who first reported the story, this Grammy Award-winning artist's notebook dates back to his days as a member of the Hot Boys in the '90s.
This notebook was also at the heart of a legal battle involving the "Misunderstood" rapper and the online memorabilia site Moments In Time. The site claimed ownership and put it up for auction in 2019 for $250K on behalf of a man who allegedly found it in a car once owned by Cash Money Records.
The multi-platinum artist issued a cease and desist, demanding the notebook's return. This ignited a lengthy legal saga, which concluded in February when Judge Kern A. Reese of the Civil District Court of Orleans Parish in Louisiana ruled in favor of the man, citing "finder’s keepers" as the winning argument in recently surfaced court documents.
Fans on social media had mixed reactions to the decision. Critics doubted the rare item would ever find a buyer, while others were amused by the "finder’s keepers" defense. One user quipped, "Never leave your belongings behind. One man's trash is another man's treasure."
Another commented, "Your honor, I will use the 'nana nana boo boo' defense because finder's keepers."
