Selma Stars on the Film's Impact
In today's climate of racial and political unrest, Selma is more timely than ever. We sat down with two of the film's stars, Carmen Ejogo and Common, about the film's impact both on society, and on them as actors.
Common, who also contributed a track "Glory" to the soundtrack, calls being a part of Selma "one of the greatest, if not the greatest, moments in my career." The rapper/activist/actor talks about how much he has changed as a person over the past couple of decades, and how each of his mistakes and experiences has prepared him to be a part of the film.
Meanwhile Ejogo, who portrays Coretta Scott King for the second time in her career (previously in the 2001 television movie Boycott), describes the relationship she has developed with Martin Luther King, Jr.'s wife after playing her multiple times.
