Twitter Throws Ice and Fire on ‘Game of Thrones’ Star for Talking Like She Knows What Racism Feels Like
It's always dangerous to compare racism to anything. Racism is its own experience. Unfortunately, Emilia Clarke didn't seem to be quite aware of this and she is the latest celeb being dragged on Twitter.
While speaking with Rolling Stone, the Game of Thrones actress highlighted ways men and women are treated differently in Hollywood, which is true, but then pulled race into it.
Clarke claimed that dealing with sexism, like having to be on set longer than men because of hair and makeup, is "like dealing with racism."
"You're aware of it… but one day, you go, 'Oh, my God, it's everywhere!' Like you suddenly wake up to it and you go, 'Wait a f**king second, are you treating me different because I've got a pair of tits? Is that actually happening?'” she said. “It took me a really long time to see that I do get treated differently. But I look around, and that's my daily life."
